3D TV Fever Hits Virgin Media after Sky

Following in the footsteps of rival Sky’s 3D technology demonstration in the end of 2008, Virgin Media has joined the race with its own entry into the arena. The company’s newest store will offer a live demo of its own 3D TV. The demo will be the first of its kind in the UK.

Virgin Media’s new store on Oxford Street will be its 44th exclusive outlet in the UK. The store will have on offer the 3D TV demo, in addition to demos of the company’s regular product lines comprising of fibre optic broadband, V+ HD boxes, TV on demand, Freedom netbooks and landline products. However, a date for launch of the 3D TV as a regular service has not been fixed yet.

There will be a prize draw for visitors on the first day, and a bonanza prize has been set aside for the lucky winner. The prize amounts to a £1300 worth of Virgin products. The products range from 50 Mb broadband and a netbook to a landline package and HD box with channel subscriptions.

Virgin Media consumer sales director Peter Taddeo clarified that the new store has been designed to give customers a richer shopping experience by letting them test and assess the products before they invest in them. He reaffirmed the Virgin Media objective of providing quality service consistently and of launching new and innovative products for customers. He further said that the prime location of the new store would aid significantly in bringing quality service to a significant number of customers.
