You did it! You’ve decided to leave dial-up behind for the speed of broadband Internet access. So, what are you going to do with all that speed now?

You’re really in a great position to fully enjoy all the web and Internet have to offer. Gone are the days when you’re waiting for a dial-up signal (remember all the busy signals you used to get on dial-up?) Gone are the long delays waiting for a page to load or in downloading those email attachments.

Access time, page loads and downloading email attachments are just the beginning. The benefits of broadband access far exceed that. You’re free to surf where ever and what ever you can imagine. Searches become so fast there’s not a topic anyone can thrown at you that you won’t be able to use your favorite search engine to lookup information on.

Online bill pay, shopping, gaming, streaming audio, video, uploads, downloads, research, chats, forums, instant messaging, blogs, the list goes on. Not sure what any of those terms mean? Go to your favorite search engine and type the word or phrase in and find out! The search engines are getting smarter and smarter and the result pages are more accurate today than they have ever been.

Don’t worry about online time. You may have had dial-up access that limited your online experience by placing time limits on you. After your limit was up, the cost per minute could get very expensive.

Looking to learn HTML, XML or a programming language? There are free tutorials all over the internet just waiting for you.

Surfing the internet and the web can keep you busy enough. With broadband internet access, your possibilities don’t stop there. You can setup a home network and run more than one computer on your connection at a time! No more fighting over who gets how much time online! Don’t have a second computer (or need one) at home? No problem. You also have the option of going wireless! (Ok, you could go wireless with more than one computer as well!) Wireless really breaks down the walls! (Literally!) My primary computer at home is a laptop and I love the freedom to be anywhere in my home and be online! No more wires!

Now, with your broadband internet service you’re surfing better than ever. You may have decided to hook up a home network. You might even consider VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) for your phone service and actually leverage the cost of broadband internet service by saving money on your monthly phone bills!

So many more possibilities await you.

If you’re not yet using broadband, find out what’s available in your area. Find out which vendors are offering what specials. Learn a bit about the technology, get your quote for service, get your service ordered and installed and start surfing the way it was meant to be!

Have you ever wondered what exactly is up with blogging? This informative report can give you an insight into everything you’ve ever wanted to know about blogging.

Online journals, better known as blogs, are becoming more and more popular. When the Internet was first getting started, users rushed to build personal web sites. Web sites are still very popular among web users, but many are now turning to blogs. What’s the difference? This article will examine the main similarities and differences between a Weblog and a website.

While blogs and website are intended to be different, there are a couple of similarities in blogs and sites. Mainly, they are both found on the Internet using a URL or a web address. Both also must have some sort of host to keep the information online. Another similarity of the two is that they both can be maintained by virtually anyone from individuals to companies. Both Weblog and websites can also contain information, pictures, link and keywords, as well. These two types of sites will target readers.

With a blog, information that is entered on the site is generally updated very frequently depending on the writer. Sometimes blog writers even update several times a day. Usually with a website, information is not updated regularly. Websites generally contain information about something that does not change often. When a website is updated, usually the entire page is altered. With a blog, just one entry at a time is updated. After a website has been changed, that information is gone and cannot be seen again by the reader. On a blog, new entries are added, but the old ones are not deleted from the site. Instead, they are stamped with the date and time that they were created, given a title and indexed on that blog page. It makes it easy for a blog reader to go to a certain blog page and read past entries without having to search.

Think about what you’ve read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about blogging? Or was there something completely new? What about the remaining paragraphs?

Another main difference between and blog and a website is that a website is generally a little harder to maintain and oftentimes requires a solid understanding of the way the Internet works. With a blog, almost anyone can easily and quickly update a blog. It does not require any special working knowledge of the Internet. In addition, there are many sites that offer blog features and most of the time these can be used for free.

Blogs also encourage people to communicate with each other much more so than with a website. A websites primary function is to provide some sort of information to a reader. While there may be a place to leave a comment or an email address for writing that is not why that site was created. Blogs are used for communication. Writers may choose to make their site private, but most choose to publish their blogs making them public to any one who wishes to read. Most blog hosting sites offer options to add to the site so readers and the writer can leave comments to each other on the site. In addition, there are entire web communities built just for blogs. Blogs encourage those who have similar thoughts, interests or even businesses to share their blog site so readers can find them easily. Blogs offer guest tracking, keyword tracking, hit counters, comment areas, and even tag boards for both the reader and the writer to use.

Blogging is extremely popular right now. As more people begin sharing their thoughts with others, there are more blogs created each day. Blogging gives writers, journalists, professionals, moms, dads and even teenagers an instant way to publish their thoughts on a regular basis. For those who enjoy writing, blogs give a unique opportunity to practice writing skills and experiment with what others want to read. Businesses use blogs to show off their expertise and knowledge in their fields, whereas websites do not always get this type of message out to the readers.

Blogging and websites do have some similarities. They are both found on the Internet and contain information. However, blogs give a writer the unique opportunity to communicate with their reader and update their entries on a frequent basis. Anyone who tries blogging will love the instant gratification of getting their opinions and thoughts out on the Internet right away and getting instant feedback from readers that visit their site. Hopefully the sections above have contributed to your understanding of blogging. Share your new understanding about blogging with others. They’ll thank you for it.

2. Read web site privacy policies carfully and make sure you understand them. Look on your favorite web sites for privacy seals of approval from BBBOnline, TRUSTe, ePublicEye, or CPA WebTrust.

3. If you’re reluctant to provide certain information on an online form, don’t.

4. Set up a special free email account with Yahoo, Hotmail, or other free services and supply those addresses when you fill out forms.

5. Before you give your credit card number to any commerce site, make absolutely sure it’s secure. Look for a closed padlock icon at the bottom of the screen or https in the URL.

6. Delete all the cookies on your cookie directory (generally c:windowscookies) frequently. A cookie is information that a web site puts on your hard disk so that it can remember something about you at a later time.

7. Disable cookies in your browser (an extreme measure) or set your browser to alert you to cookies or to accept ony cookies that return to their original server. Even better, install a cookie management software (such as Webroot Software’s Window Washer or The Limit Software’s CookieCrusher) to control which cookies your PC will accept.

8. Use an anonymous browser such as Anonymizer to hide your identity and filter cookies.

9. If a web site gives you the option to opt out of tracking, take it.

10. If you have a fast and constant DSL or cable connection, get some personal firewall software, such as Symantec’s Norton Personal FireWall or Network ICE’s BlackICE Defender, and install it, FAST!

11. Turn off file and printer sharing in Windows if you’re not using it. Intruders will have an easier time accessing your files if this is activated.

12. Elect not to accept news or updates from Web sites you visit.

13. Fake your return address when you use chat or newsgroups.

14. Turn off your Instant Messaging software when you are not using it.

15. Set your Instant Messaging software to allow ony people you trust (in your buddy list, for example) to access you.

Anybody that has a web site wants more traffic, and specifically targeted traffic. Without targeted traffic (visitors that are truly looking for what you are selling) a very low percentage of your visitors will buy from your site.

Although it is much tougher to get targeted traffic to your site the odds that someone will buy your products will be much higher. On the other hand, if you can get enough non-targeted traffic to your site, even with a low percentage of sales, you can still increase your income by a similar amount.

Think about it. If you could get 100 highly-targeted visitors a day to your site and sell to 10% of those potential buyers, you would be making money. However, by attracting 1000 non-targeted visitors to your site each day and selling to only 1% of those viewers you would make the same number of sales. So the question becomes “which is easier to attract, targeted or non-targeted traffic?”

I don’t think anyone would disagree with me when I say non-targeted traffic is much easier to get. One of the best and fastest ways to attract new visitors to your site is with autosurf programs. You can sign up with several paid autosurf sites and then almost immediately have hundreds of viewers looking at your site daily. And it is free to join many of these. No matter what you are selling a certain percentage of those viewers will in all likelihood be interested. You could be selling dog biscuits and at least a few of the 1000 visitors to your site will be interested.

Ideally you should attract targeted visitors to your site, and there are several good ways to do that. But while you are working hard to get good traffic to your site you may want to get others to visit too. After all, a few sales from low-quality visitors is better than no sales. While you are building up your targeted traffic you could also be getting non-targeted traffic for some extra sales. Why limit yourself to just one group of potential buyers?

If you are interested in quality traffic there are several methods that you might want to try. One of the best ways is with testimonials. There are two ways to benefit with testimonials. One, whenever you buy a product from someone else you can send them a testimonial that they can publish on their site. Internet marketers know that “testimonials sell products” and will many times love to add your testimonial to their site. A testimonial adds credibility and potential buyers are more likely to buy a product from someone that has lots of great testimonials. The trick here is to make sure you include a link to your site in your testimonial. When someone visits the other site and sees your testimonial they can click on the link to your site. Only people interested in what you are selling will come to your site …targeted traffic.

The second way to benefit from testimonials is to put some of them on your site. If you can get email addresses for the people buying from you it is a simple matter of mailing a request for a testimonial to them. You can put these testimonials on your site which will increase your credibility with shoppers, even with the non-targeted shoppers.

Writing articles is another way to promote your site and get targeted visitors at the same time. There are many popular free article directories on the web that you can submit your articles to. Other web masters often get articles from these directories and then add them to their own sites. All you have to do is write an interesting article (like this one) and then submit it to several article directories. Not only will these article sites publish your article on their site (with links to your site), but others will grab your article and put it on their own sites (with links to your site). Some of the more popular article directories are ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, articledashboard.com, isnare.com and many others. Just type in “free article directories” in a search engine and you will be amazed how many there are.

These are two great methods for attracting high quality traffic. But what about the easier low quality traffic? The best way to get traffic quickly is to sign up with online autosurf programs. It seems like most of them are scams, but there are actually a few very good ones. Not only will you get your site viewed by many, but you can also make some very good money with these auto surf programs. Autosurfing has become an extremely popular way to not only make money online, but to get lots of traffic to your site.

Companies like you, that have web sites, can get lots of traffic from autosurf programs. When you join an auto surf program you have the option to list your web site in their “autosurf” rotation. Some paid auto surf programs even allow you to join for free. And you can usually join the others for just a few dollars. Thousands of other people that belong to those autosurf programs will end up viewing your web site every day.

But in addition to attracting others to your web store you can also make money autosurfing. For many, auto surfing is big home business. Some people are making thousands of dollars every month. You might actually end up making more from paid autosurf programs than you will selling your products online. Although there are plenty of autosurf scams out there you can also find some very honest auto surf programs where you can make a good return on your investment. You just need to do your homework before joining any of the hundreds of autosurf programs on the net.

So there you have it. We have discussed three successful ways to get visitors to your site. And remember, if you limit your attention to only targeted traffic you will be missing a lot of non-targeted traffic and potential sales. Keep an open mind about the type of traffic you want to attract and you can be successful with your online business.

Website design firms come in all shapes and sizes.

When choosing which firm you would like to build your website, there are many factors which you need to take into consideration.

There is no point having really nice looking website if no one can see it because it has poor optimisation.

Most web desgn firms will offer additional services such as optimisation, website promotion and may also submit your website to the search engines.

For me the website they have created for you should be fully optimised anyway and I would also expect the web design firm should submit the site to the search engines as a matter of course. It is always worth asking to make sure.

Once they have produced what hopefully is an outstanding website you then need to ask them if they would include a link to your homepage from their own website, preferably their homepage. Search engines these days take these backward links into consideration when they decide where to position your site in their results. As a general rule of thumb the more backward links you have the more visitors to your site you atre likely to have.

If you want to promote the website even further, google adwords is a favourite of mine. This is where you pay to be seen on the right hand side of the results in Google, in the sponsored search section.

Are you thinking that it is about time your small business had an internet presence, however are not too sure how or who to go to build and promote the website.

This article will hopefully be of benefit to you as it will give you free tips on website promotion and on how to obtain a website on the cheap.

Many people believe that it will cost them thousands to have a website designed and this fact alone puts many people off. Due to the large number of people who now offer website design services, this should not be the case. The websites at the bottom of this article were designed for under £50 and there is no reason why you should pay over a £100 for a similar website. It is not just about the price of course, if you pay £50 and the website is not search engine friendly or looks rubbish then its a waste of £50.

If you are willing to be patient and to make a few calls and write a few emails you should be able to find a great deal.

Once you have the website built you then need to think about website promotion. A favourite of mine is google adwords, this is where you pay a fee to appear on their sponsored websites section which appears on the right hand side of the search results. This enables you to obtain a first page entry on the search engine for a particular phrase or keyword.

Another idea is to write articles like the one you are reading. You are able to submit the articles to article websites such as:

ezinearticles.com

goarticles.com

searchwarp.com

Other webmasters and ezines are able to use your article on their websites and newsletters thus giving you an additional backward link. The number of backward links a website has will affect its page rank, the higher the number of backward links, the higher the page rank. Generally the higher the page rank, the more visitors your website is likely to get.

What is it!” For all those new to the Internet arena, I’ll try to explain what autoresponders are, how they can be used, and how it can benefit your online business.

What Are Autoresponders?

Autoresponders automate the process of following up e-mail marketing leads. Email autoresponders are special email addresses that returns a message or set of messages in
response to any email that is sent to the autoresponder’s address. When your business is slow or just beginning you may be hesitate to use this tool. But be assured as your business grows, you’ll find a use.

Who Supplies Autoresponders?

Where do you get autoresponders? Well, they are as close as your web host. Yes, most web hosts have autoresponders – it is only limited by the number of email addresses your
host provides you. For example, my webhost allows me 100 email addresses. Thus, I have the opportunity, if I so wish, to create 100 autoresponders.

However, there is one small drawback to webhost autoresponders -you are limited only to one message per autoresponder, without the possibility of a follow-up email to your prospects.

But there are other avenues in which you can consider. Such as:

1. You can incorporate a free autoresponder. Freeautobots.com offers a free service — that is free of advertisements, and supplies you with the server to store your leads on.

2. You can purchase the software. This software can be placed on your computer, or again, you can purchase an online service, and all your information will be stored on the server where you purchased the service.

As you can see there are advantages and disadvantages of each. And only you will know which will best fit your needs, circumstances, expertise and budget.

How Do I An Autoresponder?

When I heard the word autoresponder, I didn’t have a clue of how to use them, or if it was relevant to my business. Pretty green, wasn’t I. Well, an autoresponder can be a great automation tool to any business.

Let me give you some examples of the versatility of this tool.

1.Used by people who are away. They use it to notify the sender that they are away on vacation, their desk, etc.

2.Used as a business tool –

a.Gives responders business information – pricing

lists,resumes

b.Collect names and email addresses

c.Use for training

d.Give away free reports

e.FAQ (if appropriate)

f.Auto-send your article submissions

As you can see there are many uses, all of which, keeps you in contact with your visitors and/or prospective leads, and the promotion of your products, services and business. And,
as to free or paid – that assessment will be directly determined by the growth of your business – and of course, your budget.

To conclude, the use of autoresponders is only limited by your imagination and your ethics. Yes, ethics. Do not go crazy with this tool – it is to be used to help your business – so be aware of spam – and it’s dos’ and don’ts – and this tool will work for you.

To your success.

What if the Internet never came to be? What if there was no Internet? Do you remember life without the Internet, without search engines and without email? It was not all that long ago. Some say the change came too fast and it has affected our nation and society of our civilization in negative ways. Of course such comments are perspective based, they do come with good arguments and in fact some people have disappeared from society and no longer enjoy the companionship of others and do not socialize as much as before.

Some say this is a choice and others tell of how they have opened their horizons and met people online, which they may have never met had they not had this great tool called the Internet. Many compare the Internet as the greatest single advancement in communication in the history of mankind. That is indeed, difficult to refute. But what if it did not exist? Would people travel more or less? Many say they travel less now with online video conferencing but also say they have developed long-term relationships with people the have never met and hope to meet them one day. Some of these people live on the other side of the planet and there is a good chance they will never meet. Yet they both enjoy a camaraderie that could not have ever existed without the Internet and World Wide Web. Have you thought recently about how the Internet has changed your life? Think on it.

Finding a Website Hosting Provider can be a daunting task. There are many providers out there, offering many different services, at many different prices. So, where do you begin, and how do you narrow your choices down? Hopefully, this article will help to clarify some of your questions and get you and your website on line.

Type of Website

When looking for a website hosting provider you first must consider the type of website you want to have now and in the future. Is it going to be:

1. Informational

2. E-commerce — if you are going E-commerce route, you should make sure that the hosting provider will or can provide a hosting program that is e-commerce ready. Why? You can get up and moving a lot faster — and will eliminate additional research.

3. Are you looking to put up more than one site? You always must consider growth, and diversification on the Internet.

Now if you’re contemplating having both an informational and a e-commerce site, you must make sure that the hosting provider can fill your needs now and in the future, when you add the additional website to your building business.

Primary Technical Considerations

Some of the primary technical aspects that you should consider are:

1. Is the hosting site up 24/7 with little down time? You will need to do a little research in this area, because I know of no quicker way to lose a customer — than having a customer click on your site and finding that your website is unavailable.

2. Technical support — are they available 24/7?

3. How much Bandwidth (Traffic) does it allow?

4. How much storage does it offer?

5. How often does the hosting provider backup your files?

6. Does it offer programs that include growth for your online presence?

7. Does the hosting provider offer traffic statistics?

8. How many email addresses does the hosting provider provide you? You will need more than one.

9. If you are contemplating moving to another web host provider, does the new provider offer the expertise and/or the service to redirect your website to their servers?

10. What additional services do they provide for the price? Example: domain registration, renewal process for your website, preinstalled scripts — for blogs, Site Builder(to help you build your site for those that have no knowledge of html), maybe even content.

11. And what additional services do they have available, if you need to have them in the future?

As you can see by the questions that I have asked, there are many options to consider when choosing a website hosting provider. And the above questions should be asked, according to your needs.

How Do I Get Through The Maze

How do you get through the maze of providers? The smart thing to do is to create a list that prioritizes the items first by what you need, second, by what you want, third, by what you don’t want and finally, by the price range that you will be comfortable paying for the service. Take your time, and don’t be afraid to ask questions of the provider if you do not find the answer on their website.

Finally, remember that your website hosting provider is one major part of your website success. You need a provider that can keep your website online, and supply you with the service or services you need to move your business forward.

Businesses all over the world are in search of new and potential customers. They use different forms of mediums to advertise and market their products.

The globalization of economies has lead to the trend of making the world one market. This has been contributed largely due to the introduction of internet and e-commerce in the later eighties. Now, businesses all over the globe search for clients / customers with different intentions. All global companies have their own website to promote their businesses. A professional looking website will give you creditability, and will make your visitor feel very confident in you, your business and your product.

Are Websites Only For Businesses? There are false contentions that websites are developed only for business purposes. The truth is that there are more personal websites than business websites on the net. Many people prefer to have personal websites to have a say on various issues. They also maintain websites to be in touch with their loved ones.

What Makes A Good Website? There are two important aspects which make a quality website:

Good content and design

Quality web hosting

What is Web Hosting? Web hosting is an important attribute for a quality website. Web hosting is the service provided by many companies to host your website on the internet. To host your website on to the net, you require a dedicated server with good space and bandwidth. Many businesses cannot afford to have a dedicated web server for their websites. This brings into picture the need for the services of hosting companies.
What Makes Quality Web Hosting? There are many features which make a quality web hosting package. The important attributes are:

Space:
The first query thrown at hosting companies is the space provided by the companies. You require adequate space to host your web pages and run your applications. You may also need a database support. There are many packages available for you to suit your requirement. The space requirements differ for personal or a business website. There are also free web hosting companies which provide you good hosting services. It is always prudent for business websites to go for paid hosting services which are dependable. Personal websites can be launched by paid or free web hosting companies. A hosting company will be preferred if it provides quality web space.

Features:
Space requirements are not the only criteria to choose a quality hosting provider. There are other features provided by the hosting company are database support, backup support, support for query / script languages and download resume services. Many services will differ with each host provider.

Price:
The price for the hosting package must be reasonable. Quality web hosting solution doesn?t mean costly solutions. The hosting solution must be of best and economical as well. Many hosting companies have their products for different end users. Hosting plans will differ for business and Personal Web Hosting solutions. Normally Business hosting plans are costlier than personal hosting plans.

Reliability:
Quality must go with reliability. Any quality hosting plan must also be reliable. Website hosted on the servers of hosting companies must be reliable. The data transferred are nothing but the business of the client. This implies the hosting company must provide reliable servers to the clients.

Packages:
Hosting companies provide many hosting options to its clients which are reliable and economical as well. Hosting plans will differ for business and personal clients. Hosting plans for business clients must be exhaustive to choose. Personal user plans must be cheap and attractive. Packages are the mixture of price and space provided by the hosting companies.

Bandwidth:
The flow of data in the website is very critical for the success of the website. Many free web space providers.
